Against The Sky
"Is this what New York City looks like?" Joey asked turning around
on the top of a large skyscraper.
"Yep. Isn't it amazing." Jen returned, looking into the horizon filled with
lights.
"I can't believe this. It's so......so.."
"So what?" Jen asked, looking at Joey's sparkling eyes.
"Magical...."
"Yeah. I remember the first time I came up here. It seemed like a
dream. The cars beneath me, the stars above, everything constantly
moving."
"How old were you when you came up here?"
"Probably seven. My parents got in a fight, and I couldn't take their
arguing anymore. I walked alone in this massive city for ever. Finally I
ended up here. After that night, every time something happened I
didn't like...I walked up here and spent the night."
"Ohh."
"Don't worry about it." Jen dismissed after seeing a glint of pity in her
eyes.
"How long do we have until we have to go back?"
"2 hours."
"Then we should probably get going."
"Yeah. Let's go."

"Jack...I'm telling you my man. This is the city of passion. Of wonder
and glory. Fame. WE can make it here." Pacey said, as they were
walking into the hotel lobby.
"Keep thinking. We're here one night and then we're gone. You got
it." Jack said, checking in their two rooms.
"Jack.... Look!" Pacey said looking at a flyer."
"What?" Jack asked coming over to Pacey and looking at him as if he
was a madman.
"See...It says...Auditions for the upcoming movie Thunder. Saturday,
May sixth. Seven o'clock sharp. All ages, all looks, and all people."
"Don't even think about it." Jack warned, seeing Pacey's gleam in his
eye.
"Don't what.? I'm going to this thing. We can be in a movie."
"No...No we can't. We're going home tomorrow."
"They'll pay us." Pacey said coaxingly.
"Nope. You're not going to win."
"Fine. You don't have to come. I'll go by myself." Pacey said, heading
up to his room.

"Hey Jen, What are we going to do tomorrow?" Joey asked, flipping
through the latest Vogue.
"I didn't have anything planned but I saw in that, "Jen said pointing to
the newspaper lying on the floor next to Joey's bed. "There is auditions
for a new movie. I don't remember the name."
"Thunder?" Joey asked hopefully.
"That's it."
"And?" Joey prodded.
"And, I thought it might be fun to try it out."
"Okay. Sure, That sounds like fun."

"I can't believe you came." Pacey teased.
"Hey, I don't want to be locked up in that tiny hotel room alone." Jack
defended.
"You just wanted to see some hot girls."
"Whatever."
"Number seven hundred ninety two." A woman called out.
"Okay, Jack that's me."
"Bye." Jack called.
*****************************************************
"Seven hundred ninety two" Joey heard a nasally blonde call out.
"Bye Jen. That's my number. Wish me luck."
"Luck!" Jen shouted as Joey ran to the door.
"Ohh."
"Ouch" Joey collided with someone.
"I'm so sorry" Joey started apologizing.
"No prob. My fault. I was in such a hurry to get there for my
number." Joey looked at him strangely.
"What?" He defended.
"What's your number?" Joey asked.
"792." He stated.
"That's weird. That's mine" She showed him her application and her
number stub.
"Seven hundred ninety-two." The lady at the desk shouted again.
"Let's go and explain this. Huh?" He said.
"Sure."
"Hi. I'm number 792"
"And I'm #792"
"And we're here for the audition." They said together.
"Oh. I'm so sorry for the confusion. Ma'am you can go in first, if you
don't mind Sir."
"That's fine." Pacey agreed.
"Thanks" Joey said entering the room.
Pacey was left to think what just happened and why he didn't get the
beautiful girl's name.
Hopefully-to be continued.
